Strategic map of the Arab world - Hummus style

Being a bit bored, I thought I'd look at a map of our beloved Arab world and see which countries are completely under the American fold, almost or resisting. The result is quite shocking. Please send me corrections if you feel we need more red dots somewhere, this is just a cursory glance at the political allegiances of the region. Where the dot is faded, that means it is a marginally important area or the opposition to the Project for a New Middle East is sufficiently strong, but not at a state level. **Update**
After a number of recommendations I have added additional red dots to Algeria and the Western Sahara region. Thanks guys, keep them coming!

Turkey is getting "redish", I heard. Anyway, one would think that the Cold War is over, well you've got your proof that's not the case: US is still fighting the Red (Dot) Menace...

I'm not too sure about that. Turkey is too far gone at the moment for it to have any chance of recovery. The military are too powerful and the EU might make some noises, but they prefer a military dictatorship in Turkey to a Muslim sympathising democracy. Either way it wins because they get to defer its membership to the EU and get to dangle the carrot for longer.

I would make the Western Sahara red. Maybe even Algeria a little, given that the Polisario opposes Morocco's control of the Western Sahara and the US supports it.

Just a thought. Good post.

Hey Wassim
I've been told that Algeria is still a stronhold for the left as they achived good results in the last legislative elections.

here in jordan the leftists are becoming more orginized.

I still can see a glimpse of hope

hopefully the reds are coming!

while looking at this map, it might be worthwhile to consider just how puny israel is compared to the rest of the arab world. why does that pathetic strip of desert deserve so much attention?

Anonymous,
You insult yourself when you make comments like the above and expect to be taken seriously. If you thought that's going to trigger any kind of meaningful discussion or response, then you've been reading Daniel Pipes or Jihad Watch too much.

another dodge, wassim. you're quite the spinner. you might consider employment at the tv news.
