Fat,lazy Polar bears...

For the second time, Palestinian civilians have formed human shields around areas where Israel intended to strike, again defeating a common strategy employed by the Israelis.

The international community wants the Palestinians to give up any hope of regaining their homeland and accept Israel, yet they still resist. They have no superpower backing them up with F-16's, billions of dollars to fund their non-existent economy or the ability to build "Merkavas"; These people refuse to read a map that has another name for their country; one they aren't allowed to return to; they refuse to be "courageous" and settle for divided Bantustans governed by corrupt traitors who long ago, sold them for a Nobel peace prize. Yet still they are resisting, since 1948, and they have no airforce, no Apaches. They have nothing but their own bodies.... yet still the Israeli's don't know what more they can do to crush, erase, appease or ignore them.... of course the Arab world waits and does nothing but grow fat and complacent....This reminds me of a poem by Nizar Qabbani (apologies for my terrible transalation):

They astounded the world,
though they had nought in their hands but stones...
they lit their surroundings like lanterns, and came as good news...
they resisted...and erupted...and were martyred..
yet still we lay about, like polar bears...
whose thick skins insulate them from the temperature
