"With this comes a change in lifestyle. Dubai has catered for Western tastes for decades, with five-star hotels and restaurants allowed to serve alcohol and run nightclubs where anything goes, as long as it stays off the streets and beaches. But AD is catching up. It is not uncommon now to see young Emiratis - sometimes in long, flowing robes but with back-to-front baseball cap - propping up hotel bars and chatting to vivacious young women. Weekends consist of beach excursions where Islamic conventions are largely ignored. Many young Emirati women, usually seen in the full-length black abaya during the week, will be in bikinis at weekends. This trend has been reinforced by the influx of young, fun-loving Lebanese. The Lebanese and their Emirati hosts now strut the luxury shopping malls with equal assurance - but it is the Emiratis who carry the Vuitton or Cartier bags and get into the chauffeured limos afterwards."

Andre,
There are quite a few good books on the subject which I'm sure your local library might have in stock. One that I would recommend is by Maxime Rodinson, "The Arabs". Good luck.

I would like to know what is the best book written about Mohamed ( salah allah 3aliy wa salam) by an Arab in the 20th century.

About one by an Arab I am not sure, but by Westerners Wassim can recommend you quite a few. As well as one above about Arab identity in case you have an identity crisis or something.

Have I mentioned already how Arabs owe everything to the West?

:D :D

BTW Amre

You should know that if you have any admirers in the blogsphere then I am the first one. I still cherish memories of that thread where you promised that Coptic girl to smash her head and massacre her family. You can be sure that I am one of the very few persons on the Internet that found the whole thing very amusing and funny.

So please, lets remain friends

:D :D

Thank you, Amre, for your warm invitation (was it one?) to join your coalition. :D :D

Though to be honest with you, I am absolutely not preoccupied with the Iranians. I don't share this anti Iranian paranoia. Hezbollah may be a pain in the ass, but there are 2,000 km between us and Iran and neither I expect them to be so suicidal as to drop an atomic bomb here :D :D

Never mind that we are hosting the Islam's third sacred site and the place and its vicinity are densely packed with Arabs, the same Palestinians for example :D :D

I wish I could tell you that I wish you luck in your struggle with the Persians, but I can't say even this so little I care for all this :D :D Let alone that I see this region as one big sectarian zoo and it will stay like this for at least another 50 years. All our neighbors will remain confined to their sectarian cages despite their loudly proclaimed universal brotherhood and anti imperialist solidarity. Those, who, in their naivety, think that they are above the sectarian fray, will soon pay and dearly for this stupidity (that's why I am not worried by the Hezbollah too) :D :D

I hope you don't mind me my cynicism ;)

Very nice, Amre

I bet you understand that when you are saying that Iran is your worst enemy, you shouldn't expect an Israeli to go out of its way to convince you that it's not so

:D :D
