"Unless a force is quickly found that can prevent the reemergence of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon after its infrastructure has been crushed and its fighters defeated, we will all be back to square one."

I stopped reading as soon as I finished that paragraph.

You saw who wrote the article?

"Clinton Bailey is a former adviser on Shiite affairs in Israel's Ministry of Defense."

What can you expect ...

"Americans might question whether Nabih Berri is a suitable choice for checking Hezbollah ..."

"America could replace Syria in this role by using its influence over the government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora ..."

"America might also weigh the possibility of arming Amal so that it can keep the south clear of Hezbollah fighters .."

The intention is cristal-clear!

They forgot to finish the quote... "we will all be back to square one, an independent middle east"

Yaman:

I like that.

Ezra,
I second that emotion...but I don't like the term Middle East - too colonial. I much prefer Arab world.

Ah, but Arab World excludeds the Turks, the Kurds, the Persians, and the milieu of other ethniciites...it wasn't so long ago that Palestinians weren't considered Arab, either.
