ISG report - initial reaction
"In its report, "The Way Forward - A New Approach", the ISG put forward 79 recommendations to contain a conflict that it says could end up costing the US $2 trillion. Nearly 3,000 US soldiers have been killed - 10 on the day the report was presented in four separate incidents." The report explores ways of letting Iraqi's continue to die without costing the United States both financially and in the lives of it's young men and women. There is no advice on where to look next for Weapons of Mass Destruction either.
A number of mistakes were made, namely the disbanding of the Iraqi army, not using enough troops for the invasion, and too few troops subsequently to retain control.
Here is one I think Mr Baker missed: they shouldn't be there in the first place...
