The Killing fields

Have we become so desensitized to the killing of people in Iraq that we don't even notice it anymore. How can one explain a death rate of over 100 a day? The people getting killed everyday are Iraqi citizens while the project of resisting occupation appears to be on the backburner. For a brief period of time, I couldn't tell from the images of carnage and destruction whether I was watching something happening in Iraq, Lebanon or Palestine. The countries might be different but the hand behind the destruction appears to be the same.
