"Assad-gate" Email Hacking Story

The Guardian says it has seen over three thousand of Bashar Al Assad and his wife's emails. I don't know if they are true or not yet, but they seem pretty damn genuine. They are hardly a smoking gun, and instead they show you a president and his wife who seem more interested in doing online shopping and swapping silly Youtube clips than anything else. There is something in there which almost acknowledges what is happening in the country: tips about interviewing; tips about preventing demonstrators from taking over squares; and tips to stop blaming al Qaeda for bombings in Aleppo. It was interesting to see a first lady who seemed very interested in shoes and jewellery and not much else. I do sincerely hope that this riles the Assad's, in fact I've just heard that the Guardian's website has been blocked by Syrian ISP's. If so, this is definitely going to help erode whatever is left of Bashar's aura. I don't think it is true that somebody in the inner circle betrayed the regime, that might be to confuse the regime as to how the emails were actually acquired. Oh well, the fun never stops.

An opinion of As'ad who is a FOE of Assad - it is a FAKE, and a bad one

http://angryarab.blogspot.com/2012/03/asads-emails-hoax.html

I suppose I should pity you for taking a solace in SNC fake used by not-too-scrupulous Guardian.

By the way, your constant equating Zionist crimes in Gaza with civil war in Syria is not sound so good as well.

USA are 100% for Zionists and 100% for FSA. It seems there IS some difference between NATO supported colonial slaughter of Palestinians and Syrian army fighting NATO supported FSA.

But I suppose you do not have much to be happy about now. After all, despite NATO/GCC/Zionist support, sectarian terrorist FSA is NOT winning. More than that, they are have NOT a mass support, even between Syrians who have no love lost for Assad.

hey lidia,

i dont really understand where you are coming from,

let me ask you some questions, ok?

1. if you were to go to syria now and say anything against Bashar, what will happen to you?

2. is the regime capable of torturing and killing its own people?

3 has the regime, since the conflict, already tortured and killed innocent people?

basically, let me help you.

1. game over for you
2. yes
3. yes

who gives a shit about what NATO/GCC/Zionist/Iran have plans for middle east region, because if you put all of that aside you will see this regime HAS TO BE removed,

i would have thought it is more natural for them to write in arabic?

@ anonymous: I would have thought that Asma Assad, who was raised in Britain, and her husband, a scion of the ruling class educated in Britain, would be bilingual. I do find it interesting that the supposedly 'radical' Western left once again opposes an uprising by the proletariat whilst backing the ruling class - sort of predictable mind you, the 'radicals' generally do turn out to be the biggest reactionaries and about as radical as the Queen at heart.

BTW, I take it you don't approve of maysaloon or other Arab writers writing in English either?

Let us see
1) one anon is claiming that

"who gives a shit about what NATO/GCC/Zionist/Iran have plans for middle east region, because if you put all of that aside you will see this regime HAS TO BE removed"

Yes, removed by the same forces that "removed" more than million Iraqis? And only god knows how many Afghans and Libyans?

Sure, after "removing" by NATO/GCC "bad rulers" of those states NOW there is NO points of 1,2,3 in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. So, all murdered for the sake of "removing" were murdered to put NEW torturers into place? But, of course, NEW ones are OK.

2) the second anon it seems DOES give a shit - a lot of it.
To call sectarian murderers (FSA and SNC) "uprising by the proletariat" is rich. Since WHEN such uprisings by the proletariat were 100% supported by NATO/GCC/Zionists?

So, WHO is "backing the ruling class" there? Is Obama, Saudi king and Avigdor Liberman are "proletariat" or backers of "proletariat"

Lidia - you really didn't address the 2nd and 3rd questions:

2. is the regime capable of torturing and killing its own people?

3 has the regime, since the conflict, already tortured and killed innocent people?

2. Are the regimes capable of torturing and killing their own people are NOW in place of regimes "removed" by the same NATO/GCC forces anon is not giving a damn if they would "remove" Assad? I.e. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya. Yes, all those regimes ARE, and they are doing it, and NATO/GCC support those regimes and even more.
3.Have the regimes, about whom anon not giving a damn if they would "remove" Assad i.e. NATO/GCC, already tortured and killed innocent people? I.e. people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya,Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Syria (yes, and Syria).Yes, NATO/GCC HAVE tortured and killed people in all those states and MANY more. So, should NATO/GCC regimes be "removed"?

Now it is going even MORE intriguing
As'ad claims that so-called Assad emails were around on "opposition" websites for some time http://angryarab.blogspot.com/2012/03/bashshars-emails_17.html

so WHY Maysaloon who belongs to the same opposition has NOT told us about this fact? Could it be that he preferred to cite Guardian authority instead of not-so-great credibility of Guardian sources?

just curious
