I didn't even know that there were Uighurs in Guantanamo - these are truly the oppressed of the earth, forgotten by everyone. It is sad that since Russia is a traditional ally of the Arabs as well as other distractions, we have forgotten about the Muslims of central Asia and the Caucasus, once within the Muslim world's orbit: "Seventeen Chinese prisoners who have been held for nearly seven years in Guantánamo Bay will be informed on Monday that they could spend the rest of their lives behind bars, even though they face no charges and have been told by a judge they should be freed."

Mr. Maysaloon, I was glad to see you bringing up those forgotten people. It was Dana, at her blog UNWRITTEN, (http://adigasilk.blogspot.com/2008/09/muslims-in-china.html )who first introduce them in circle I read. The videos she posted describe their ordeal under the Chinese rule. Tell you the truth I was disturbed by the three videos and did not find big difference between the Authoritarian power in Uighur land and my birth land. Also their ordeal in Guantanamo has been covered extensively her in the States by liberal media such as NPR ( http://wamu.org/search/?cx=006045162988948360930%3At_tgmnvrftw&cof=FORID%3A11&q=uighur&sa=Search#492 ). A lot of civil rights lawyers defended them and made their case public. Sadly, their dilemma is not going to be solved with current twisted mind administration, but hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
