Must Mona al Tahawy keep reminding us that she lived in Israel "As a Jerusalem-based Reuters correspondent in 1998..." at every opportunity? So what? I've worked illegally as a bagel baker in the US for 6 months but you don't see me brag about it.

Yazan,
Yep, even been denied entry back in because I overstayed my "welcome" :) I came back and the little spanish I knew was with a latino accent so the first time I met spaniards they got VERY confused. It was good to stick my middle finger at "The Man" and toil with the masses, I was very fortunate.

Lirun,
The bagels were actually great, it was one of the better bakeries there.

I really want to like Mona elTahawy alot more than I do, but her writing is just kind of bland. I like Eteraz a lot more as a columnist.

nice..

where i live in yaffo.. we have a bunch of all night bakeries that work around the clock.. and they make bagels of the boiled kind..

you can pick up a hot steamy salt or sesame bagel at all crazy hours..

i so need a diet right now..

Mona El-Tahawy is disgrace to Egypt and Egyptians. I think that her nationality must be dropped. Wonder if Naser were alive, how he would have handled that creep:)

i 'd like to hear your opinions. why is she so bad..

we have a similar lady called amira hass.. her stuff enrages me.. but i am always interested to hear what she has to say (always reminding us she lives in gaza hehe) she is the spear-head of our self-criticism.. why is self criticism not good..
